Meet Your Instructors

Nicholas "Nick" O’Rourke
Owner & Instructor
With nearly two decades of dedicated service in public safety, Nicholas brings a wealth of real-world emergency experience to the classroom. His extensive background spans multiple vital roles in the field, including:
EMS & Fire Veteran: Serving in Emergency Medical Services since 2009 and certified as a Fire II Firefighter.
Public Safety Leader: Former Sheriff’s Deputy, Public Safety Officer, and former Vice President at Oregon Ambulance Inc.
Clinical & Teaching Expertise: A former Certified Nursing Assistant who transitioned his passion for medicine into education, serving as an EMS Instructor since 2020 and an AHA Instructor since 2022.
When he isn't teaching life-saving skills or serving his community, Nick enjoys family life in Illinois, where he has been happily married since 2007 and is a proud father of three and grandfather of four.

Hailey Atherton
Sales Coordinator & Instructor
Hailey brings 11 years of public safety and emergency medicine experience to 1st On Scene Training. Her diverse background spans 911 prehospital response, firefighting, emergency communications, and acute care in the emergency room.
11 Years of Public Safety Experience: Active Paramedic with a background in 911 response, firefighting, and dispatch.
Clinical Expertise: Extensive experience managing high-acuity emergencies in both the field and hospital emergency rooms.
Proven Field Educator: Former EMS Preceptor and training supervisor dedicated to cultivating confident rescuers.
Advanced Certifications: Certified Paramedic holding credentials in ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, and FEMA Incident Command.
When she isn't teaching life-saving skills or serving her community, Hailey enjoys Gaming and taking walks with her girlfriend. She is also a proud Cat mom of two “Wanton and Fish Stick”
